It was a big day of ANZAC Day football at Blacktown today with the QBE Sydney Swans Academy in action against Tasmania in three matches.

Ahead of each of the fixtures, teams and officials took part in an on-field ANZAC ceremony to commemorate ANZAC Day.

Results as follows:

QBE Sydney Swans Academy U18 Male defeated by Tasmania by 7 points

Tasmania started fastest out of the blocks but the Swans rallied hard in the second term to kick three in a row and had all the momentum late in the second quarter with their tackle pressure catching Tasmania off-guard, the Swans taking a 5-point lead into half time. Tasmania responded after the break however and took a 7-point lead into the final quarter. It was an even last quarter and as the rain arrived at Blacktown both sides had their chances, kicking 2.4 respectively with the Swans unable to make up the three quarter time deficit, defeated by seven points.

The Swans were impressive from start to finish to record a comprehensive victory over the Devils in their Coates League match. Sydney took a 22-point lead into half time and put their foot on the accelerator in the third quarter kicking five goals and dominated in their front half with their skills, teamwork and pace on display. Despite only adding one goal in the final term, the damage had been done in a dominant third quarter.

QBE Sydney Swans Academy U16 Male defeated by Tasmania by 9 points.

The Swans started well albeit inaccurately, kicking 3.8 in the first half and took a 21-point lead into the half time break. However it was Tasmania who came out hungrier in the second half and piled on five goals to even things up going into the final term. In a see-sawing final quarter, Tasmania kicked four goals to the Swans two and despite some final minute chances in front of goal for Sydney, the Devils hung on for the 9-point win.
