Luke Parker’s performance against the West Coast Eagles has earned him a perfect ten in the AFL Coaches Association Player of the Year votes for the second time this season.
Parker, who picked up 33 possessions, 22 which were contested and two goals, was the standout in the midfield in the Swans’ 28-point win over West Coast at Patersons Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
The 21-year-old’s ten vote performance has elevated him into third place on the Swans leaderboard, and marks the eighth game Parker has polled votes in this season.
Fellow midfielder Ben McGlynn earned eight votes for his effort against the Eagles, which saw him pick up 27 possessions, five tackles and two goals, while Lewis Jetta (five votes) was awarded his first votes for the season for his 22 possessions and five tackles in Perth.
Craig Bird was awarded three votes for his game, while Nick Smith was rewarded for his lock down role on Eagles’ forward Mark LeCras with one vote.
With Gold Coast captain Gary Ablett suffering a shoulder injury this week, the AFL Coaches Association Player of the Year award has a new leader with Fremantle’s Nathan Fyfe taking over top spot.
Josh Kennedy leads the way on the overall leaderboard for the Swans with the midfielder holding fourth position with 66 votes, with Lance Franklin just two positions behind in sixth place with 52 votes.
