Ten PLAYERS will enter round 23 walking the Tribunal tightrope, knowing that a minor slip-up in the last round could cost them their place in the finals.

A total of 15 players have received at least two strikes from the Match Review Panel this season, with 10 of them playing for clubs that enter the last round of the season with finals hopes.

If they commit another low-level offence that would normally draw a fine, they will be suspended for one match, raising the stakes significantly heading into September.

Richmond and Sydney are the clubs with the most at stake in round 23, with two key players each on two strikes.

Tigers superstar Dustin Martin and captain Trent Cotchin cannot afford another slip-up, while Sydney pair Lance Franklin and Zak Jones are on their last chance.

Essendon forward Joe Daniher is another key player walking the tightrope going into finals after receiving two fines this season.

Players are fined $1000 for a first low-level offence such as a low-impact strike to the body, with a second offence drawing a $1500 fine.

A third offence is met with a one-match ban and a $2500 fine, with an early guilty plea removing the fine.

Wood and retiring Hawthorn champion Luke Hodge this year became the first players under the system to commit third offences and earn a one-match suspension.
