The Sydney Swans launched their 2019 season in the heart of the Harbour City on Wednesday night, thanks to Principal Partner QBE.
Sydney Swans CEO Tom Harley and coach John Longmire were joined by QBE Group Chief Executive Officer Pat Regan and QBE Australia Pacific CEO Vivek Bhatia, along with staff from both organisations and Sydney Swans players.
Last year, the Swans and QBE extended one of the longest partnerships in sport to at least 36 years.
Veteran defender Jarrad McVeigh has been a Swan for 17 years of the long-standing partnership and he was full of praise for QBE’s impact on the club.
“QBE’s contribution to the Swans has been enormous,” McVeigh told SwansTV.
“When you think of the Swans jumper, or you see something about the Sydney Swans, you see the QBE logo right beside it. We’re so fortunate to have had them as our Principal Partner for such a long time.”
McVeigh, who begins season 2019 with 319 AFL games under his belt, says he’s hungry for more success and is looking forward to helping guide Sydney’s young list in the season ahead.
“The chance to win a premiership is the ultimate goal, but also to improve each year and have a really good year,” he said.
“I just want to drive the group to get back to the last day in September. We’ve recently played a number of finals series but haven’t got to that final moment, so that’s what we’re always looking for and that’s what I’ll be trying to do this year.”
