The Sydney Swans have been saddened by the passing of Graeme Galt, a past Chairman of the Club and passionate Swans fan.

Graeme succeeded Geoffrey Edelsten as Chairman of the Sydney Swans in the late 80s, and was the Chairman of Centre Circle (a coterie group of Sydney’s business leaders) for over a decade.

"Graeme was a true Swannie, a loyal supporter who was incredibly devoted to the Club," Chief Executive Myles Baron-Hay said.

"As a past Chairman of the Club and Centre Circle, Graeme made a significant contribution to our great game in New South Wales. The Club will miss him greatly."

Graeme was a devoted champion of community issues and was prominent in his support of Indigenous Australia. After a long battle with illness, Graeme passed away peacefully at his home in Balmoral on the first anniversary of Apology Day, 13 February 2009.

Graeme will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by members of the Red and White family.

Graeme's funeral service will be held at Magnolia Chapel at Macquarie Park Crematorium, Plassey Road, North Ryde (not the older Northern Suburbs Crematorium) at 11.00 am on Thursday 19 February and afterwards at the Bathers Room and Terrace, Bathers Pavilion, The Esplanade, Balmoral to celebrate Graeme's life.

His family have requested that in lieu of flowers that donations be made to the Cancer Council.
