Oliver Florent looks set to return to the Sydney Swans side for Sydney Derby XVIII on Saturday against Greater Western Sydney.

Florent was a late withdrawal from Sunday’s loss to Geelong with a hip flexor.

Head of Football Charlie Gardiner said he expected the 21-year-old to be fit to face the Giants.

“Ollie was a bit sore last week and we gave him every chance to come up for the Geelong game,” Gardiner said.

“He didn’t get through training on Saturday and we made a decision to keep him out of the side for a week.

“He looks like he is ready to go this week with the benefit of a rest and hopefully we will see him out there this weekend.”

Colin O’Riordan (groin) and co-captain Dane Rampe (eye) have both been ruled out of the Sydney Derby.

O’Riordan has been managing the injury for a couple of weeks but has needed to sit out this week’s match to rest.

“Colin injured his groin against Carlton a couple of weeks ago and we had worked to manage it through in the last couple of weeks,” Gardiner said.

“During the game on the weekend it flared up and he was struggling to cover the ground towards the end of the game.

“He is going to be managed this week and will miss but hopefully he is not too long on the sidelines”

Rampe coped a ball in the eye in the second half on the weekend which has affected his vision.

“He has a bit of bleeding on his eye which is going to keep him out,” Gardiner said.

“He is seeing a specialist to learn more about it, but we are expecting he will miss just one week.”
