Kieren Jack, Tom McCartin, Jackson Thurlow, Robbie Fox and Ryley Stoddart headline a host of Sydney Swans charges set to return for a clash with the Canberra Demons at UNSW Canberra Oval on Saturday afternoon.
Jack (hip) will run out for his first match since Sydney hosted Essendon in Round 8, McCartin and Thurlow were omitted from the top-flight side, Fox will return from an ankle injury and Stoddart was an emergency for the senior team’s game against West Coast.
Sydney development coach Lloyd Perris said intensity around the footy would be crucial to victory in the nation’s capital.
“The key message is to just bring our pressure – to bring our trademark Swans pressure,” Perris told SwansTV.
“We always focus pretty heavily on defence, so if we can control their ball movement and pressure them hard, it’ll go a long way to us winning the game.”
Sydney is placed third on the ladder behind the Brisbane Lions (first) and Southport Sharks (second) ahead of Round 12.
The Swans, who have won six games and lost three, fell to GWS in a 25-point loss at Blacktown International Sportspark in their most recent outing.
Perris says his team is full of energy on the back of last weekend’s bye.
“The boys were able to enjoy some downtime,” Perris said.
“We had a few sore bodies heading into the bye, so we enjoyed a freshen-up and came to training last weekend. The boys trained really well on the weekend and again during this week.”
