Qualifying Final v Adelaide
The Sydney Swans ended their bad run of form against Adelaide with a stunning 29-point win over the Crows at AAMI Stadium in a Qualifying Final.
The win was just the Swans’ third victory over the Crows in 15 matches, and secured the team a week’s rest and a home Preliminary Final.
The club’s impressive victory was unfortunately soured by a hamstring injury to small forward Ben McGlynn. McGlynn’s disappointment was clear as he was subbed off in the third quarter, with the 27-year-old showing raw emotion on the interchange bench.
On-field, the Swans ferocity for the ball saw them get ahead of the Crows, and a five-goal second quarter resulted in the Swans holding a 25-point lead at half-time.
Swans midfielder Ryan O’Keefe (37 disposals, eight tackles) was at his brilliant best, while Adam Goodes played an important role up forward, sparking the team by kicking three goals.
Ted Richards was also pivotal in the match restricting the Crows’ dangerous forward Taylor Walker.
The Swans’ defensive pressure was also outstanding, with the team restricting the Crows to just five goals for the match.
