Sydney Swans star Isaac Heeney says optimism is high around the club for what is ahead despite a disappointing end to the season.
Premiership midfielder Dan Hannebery and speedy forward Gary Rohan have both requested a trade home to Victoria in the upcoming trade period.
Heeney said he was confident in the young talent around the Club to lead the group forward.
“There’s still such a positive vibe around the club,” Heeney said.
“Obviously they’ve got some personal reasons, hence why they’re leaving the club.
“I look at it and I’m extremely excited for next year with some young players coming through who are super talented with a lot of x-factor.
“I’m really excited for next year.”
Heeney was at the Brownlow Medal award on Monday night where he was awarded the 2018 AFL Mark of the Year award.
He was joined by teammate Callum Mills who is set to return to the side for the 2019 season after missing the second half of the season with a foot injury.
“We will get Callum Mills back and Sam Naismith who hopefully will be up and running,”
“I believe he is one of the best ruckman in the comp when he is up and running and hopefully we get a couple of others back from injury which would be nice.”
The 2018 AFL Trade Period will commence on Monday October 8.
