A QBE Sydney Swans Academy star just two seasons through his Aussie rules journey has earned a prestigious gong.

Under-15 Academy member Kevin Dawo has taken out the 2018 Carbine Club Scholarship, an award presented to a Swans Academy player every year in recognition of sporting excellence.

The Hunters Hill High School student got his first taste of Aussie rules at a round-robin tournament last year and hasn’t looked back since.

Dawo’s coach believed the school had unearthed a gem and wasted no time in getting in contact with the Swans Academy.

He is going from strength to strength at the Under-15 Academy Cup and in Willoughby-Mosman colours.

But the sporting ability of the 15-year-old is not limited to Aussie rules, with Dawo also kicking goals in rugby league and high jump.

Academy general manager Chris Smith said Dawo could be set for a big future.

“Kevin is an impressive athletic talent with a terrific attitude,” Smith said.

“If he can commit to the practise required and listen to his coaches he’ll be an exciting prospect in the years to come.”
