Sydney Swans defender Callum Mills addressed the media ahead of training at the SCG on Thursday.
The Swans are preparing for a clash with the Western Bulldogs at Etihad Stadium in Round 4 on Saturday.
Mills will play his AFL 50th game and here some of the key quotes from the press conference.
His thoughts ahead of his 50th
“I’m lucky that I’m at such a great club and that I’ve got people to look up to like McVeigh and Buddy. The Swans Academy was great too. It’s hard to say what I’d be doing if it wasn’t for the Academy. It was a super support and it helped me transition from Under 18s football into AFL football.”
Sydney Derby win
“It was a special game. GWS are such a great team this year. They’ve been playing good footy and we just wanted to grab a win. To win the Brett Kirk Medal was great and it’s always great playing for such a good cause in White Ribbon.”
Taking on the Dogs
“They really hunt the footy. They get a lot of numbers around the ball and try to use their handballs to outnumber you at the contest. So that’s one thing where we will have to be focused on the weekend.”
Losing Sam Reid and Lewis Melican to injury
“They’re two great players but the best thing about footy is it gives an opportunity for the next people coming through. We had a few boys that played really well in the NEAFL last year and they’ll step up and play their role. That’s the best part about footy – when one door closes another opens for another person.”
