Sydney Swans midfielder Oliver Florent has finished equal fifth in the AFL Rising Star awards held in Melbourne on Friday.

Florent collected 10 votes from the judges sitting him alongside Geelong youngster Jack Henry.

Collingwood forward Jaiyden Stephenson took out the award with 52 votes ahead of Adelaide’s Tom Doedee (42), Brisbane’s Alex Witherden (32) and Richmond’s Jack Higgins (11).

Small forward Ben Ronke received just two votes from the judging panel.

Florent took his game to another level in his second season at the club, playing all 22 games and averaging 17 disposals per game.

“The coaching staff and players have given me all the confidence I need to go out there and play my role,” Florent said on Friday.

“I am really lucky to have the support that they give me each week and for the players to back me, so I am ready for next week (elimination final against GWS)."

The Swans have a strong history when it comes to the Rising Star award with three previous winners; Callum Mills (2016), Dan Hannebery (2010) and Adam Goodes (1999).
