The Sydney Swans’ first- to third-year players tackled a variety of activities on the second day of the annual development camp at the Sydney Academy of Sport.
The Swans’ pool of seven draftees joined Sydney’s second- and third-year players at the Narrabeen venue for activities targeted primarily at galvanising the young group.
It was a busy day for the youngsters who took part in a one-hour weights session, before a highly spirited game of basketball followed.
They then strapped in for a four-hour session of fun-filled team-building activities, with white-water rafting, canoeing and fire-building among the many adventures, before a BBQ rounded out the day.
Midfielder James Rowbottom, recruited via Sydney’s second-round selection at November’s AFL Draft, said the camp made for an ideal opportunity for the young Swans to bond.
“Coming on this camp with a lot of other boys in a similar sort of age bracket meant we were able to mingle and get to know each other on a deeper level,” Rowbottom told SwansTV.
“It makes you even more comfortable at the Swans as well as really excited to come back every day and train hard with the boys.”
