The NEAFL Swans have been bolstered by a host of AFL-listed players ahead of Saturday’s derby against GWS.

Kurt Tippett, Will Hayward, Jordan Dawson, Ollie Florent and Jordan Foote have all been named for the Round 16 curtain-raiser at Spotless Stadium, the cross-town rivals' third clash of 2017.

Tippett, Hayward and Dawson return from injury while Florent and Foote (senior emergency) are back from last weekend’s AFL squad.

The big inclusions strengthen a side aiming for its 13th consecutive win and third-straight victory over the western enemy.

Last time, in Round 11, the NEAFL Swans coaxed to a 171-point win at Blacktown International Sportspark with three of the inclusions (Tippett, Florent and Dawson) combining for nine goals and 76 disposals.

Sydney and GWS' seasons have gone in opposite directions with Rhyce Shaw's team going from strength to strength, while the Giants' reserves, who sit last with a 12-1 record, have felt the full effects of the squad's horror run of injuries.

But Shaw says ladder positions, wins and losses are irrelevant and will count for very little if they fail to bring the same attitude and intent they've produced in recent weeks into enemy territory this Saturday.

"We're expecting a big challenge because they'll have about nine AFL-listed boys in and they get their full quota of academy boys back as well, so they're going to be really strong," Shaw said.

"It will be a good challenge for us to see where we're really at because one of the toughest challenges I've found as coach is getting the boys to back up good performances.

"Last week, against the Suns, was probably our best performance of the year. We played amazing footy for a long period of time, against a side which had a lot of AFL experience.

"You can see the playing group really striving to be the best players they can possibly be, individually and as a group, because they all want to be putting their best cases forward if of when that senior call-up comes."

Tippett joining Callum Sinclair form a lethal ruck combination especially against Giants big man Dawson Simpson, statistically the best ruckman in the competition.

Tippett came close to an immediate senior recall but the Match Committee has decided to stick with the same winning formula of leaving Sam Naismith as the specialist ruckman with possible help from Sam Reid and Dean Towers.

At the drop of the ball, Shaw will be hoping midfielder Dawson can pick up where he left off. The South Australian native was in super touch before a calf injury interrupted a purple patch where he averaged more than 28 disposals and shot to the lead in the NEAFL MVP Award.

He'll be helped by a hoard of other midfielders in Florent, Foote, Brandon Jack, James Rose and Sam Fisher who've all been in strong form at the lower level.

Jeremy Laidler (senior emergency) and Colin O'Riordan (injured) go out of the side.
