The Sydney Swans Football Club is mourning the passing of former staff member Jack Giddy.
Giddy passed away peacefully at Sydney’s Longueville Hospital on Sunday, January 22.
From an athletics background, Giddy fronted the conditioning program at the Sydney Swans from 1986 to 1990.
Club captain at the time, Dennis Carroll, said Giddy was highly credentialed and a valued team member.
“Around that time, we were known as a very fit side and much of that had to do with Jack’s preparation over the summer,” Carroll said.
“He was an utter gentleman, highly respected and widely loved. He certainly had the complete buy-in from the players during that period.”
A life member of the New South Wales Athletics League, Giddy coached many athletes across a number of sports in addition to athletics and AFL, including modern pentathlon, rugby league and beach sprinters.
The Sydney Swans Football Club would like to express its condolences to Jack Giddy’s family and friends.
