After cementing a place in the 2017 AFL finals series with a 81-point win over Carlton, we’ve launched our finals campaign: Defy the Odds.
Defying the odds is about never giving up; it’s fighting, persisting, believing and never losing sight of the goal.
It’s achieving what has never been done before.
The Sydney Swans have already defied the odds by becoming the first team in VFL/AFL history to make the finals after starting the season 0-6 – now we’re aiming to continue the strong brand of footy that brought about the turnaround.
Throughout the finals series we’ll be looking back on our 2017 journey as well as reflecting on great Swans finals moments that have defied the odds.

- In the coming days, we’ll be asking you to share your stories of defying the odds. Look out for details across the Sydney Swans digital platforms.
- You can share your passion for the Swans by sending a message to the team as part of our Finals Fan Mail, which will once again be up and running in 2017.
- Look out for the Sydney Swans community team who will be out and about on the streets throughout September as we take over some of the Swans Friendly Venues.
- Make sure you continue using #ProudlySydney on social media throughout the finals to declare your support for the Sydney Swans.
