The Sydney Swans will play for the White Ribbon Cup in Sydney Derby XIII at Spotless Stadium on Saturday night.
Since the launch of the Sydney Derby in round one, 2012, the Sydney Swans and the GWS Giants have proudly been involved in the fight to end men’s violence against women.
While the Giants currently hold the cup after taking the win in round five at the SCG earlier in the year, the Swans lead the head to head eight wins to four moving into Sydney Derby XIII.
The winning captain will be presented with the Cup after Saturday’s game, and the player judged best on ground will be awarded the Brett Kirk Medal.
White Ribbon Australia promote the world’s largest male-led movement to end men’s violence against women. One in three women have experienced physical and/or sexual violence perpetrated by someone known to them, and over 12 months, on average, one woman is killed every week as a result of intimate partner violence.
White Ribbon Australia seek an Australian society which all women can live in safely, free from violence and abuse, and the Sydney Swans are proud to help raise awareness for this movement.
