It was touted as the game of the round and it didn't disappoint as football fans were treated to a Friday Night thriller at Etihad Stadium.
Social media and football go hand in hand and the twittersphere was alight with fans expressing their emotions from the game.
Here's the best of social for #AFLDogsSwans.
Reidy's 6 goal haul for Game Number 100
Sam Reid put together a stellar performance in his 100th match, booting 6 goals and continuing his impressive comeback after a year on the sidelines.
A turnover and some quick hands from Franklin set up Sam Reid for a superb goal! #AFLDogsSwans pic.twitter.com/kM7Q6VN1eC

— Josh Dwyer (@JoshDwy13) March 31, 2017
How good is @Buddy_Franklin when he swings around and goes for goal outside 50. I would back that to get 6 points each time. #AFLDogsSwans
— Beau Tran (@beautran) March 31, 2017
Regardless of the result, Buddy Franklin's 2 goals in the last quarter was a highlight reel in itself #AFLDogsSwans
— Nick Cooper (@nickcooper326) March 31, 2017
Is there anything better in AFL footy than Buddy Franklin doing that? Wow! Just wow! #freak #AFLDogsSwans

Debutants fire!
One of the highlights to come out of the match was the way our new players went about their business. Debutants Nic Newman, Robbie Fox and Will Hayward as well as second gamer Ollie Florent did not look out of place on the big stage.
Proud of Ollie Florent tonight with this fantastic chase and kicking his 1st goal in the @AFL for the #Swans #13 pic.twitter.com/XVsbOVhySq

Ollie Florent having a blinder. Exciting stuff! #ProudlySydney @sydneyswans #AFLDogsSwans

Was very impressed by the @sydneyswans new players - Hayward is the kind of forward they have been looking for. Newman = Malceski

So so proud of the @sydneyswans boys tonight. Faight to the end. All 3 debutants did fantastic #headsupboys

The debutants looked brilliant; including our lesser experienced players SO #futuressobrightgotta @sydneyswans @Pridhamhq #goswans 2/2

Free kick or not?
And then there was the decision that had everyone talking and opinions divided when a free kick was awarded to the Dogs late in the game as Callum Mills rushed a behind.
AFL has deemed delib. rushed free in Dogs/Swans as correct under stricter 2017 ruling, due to no physical pressure when ball put over line. pic.twitter.com/Q04FKgmyxH
— Patrick Keane (@AFL_PKeane) March 31, 2017
Watched it a couple of times, and under new interpretation Mills call from #AFLDogsSwans seems correct.
— Alex Fair (@AJFair85) March 31, 2017
Shocking call on mills, late in the game & u got a bloke on his hammer
— Tadhg Kennelly (@TadhgKennelly) March 31, 2017
Regarding Mills FK for deliberate rushed behind, I thought it was there. Tough call but that's level at which I want to see it interpreted.
— Rohan Connolly (@rohan_connolly) April 1, 2017
I'm normally quick to criticise umps and err on the side of leniency to players, but that deliberate call against Mills was 100% correct
— Nathan Templeton (@nathantemp7) March 31, 2017
The fact so many are arguing about the Picken/Mills call is probably proof the ruling isn't clear enough #AFLDogsSwans
— Ben Smith (@BenSmith94) March 31, 2017
Regarding Mills FK for deliberate rushed behind, I thought it was there. Tough call but that's level at which I want to see it interpreted.
— Rohan Connolly (@rohan_connolly) April 1, 2017
And then there was Titus O'Reily's spin on it.....
What sport do these umpires normally officiate? #AFLDogsSwans
— Titus O'Reily (@TitusOReily) March 31, 2017
#ProudlySydney
And despite the result going against the Swans, fans enjoyed the fiercely contested and entertaining game of football. Whilst the Swans are now 0-2, the team will look to register a win when they are back at home against Collingwood on Friday night with the Swans faithful right behind them.
Hearing commentary from game last night reinforcing what a brilliant match it was! Hope every Friday night game delivers like #AFLDogsSwans

Proud of @sydneyswans effort to hang in there last night and give some cheek late. Young kids outstanding. Top game of footy.#AFLDogsSwans
