Kurt Tippett has been withdrawn from the Sydney Swans final side to face Carlton at the MCG on Saturday.

Tippett suffered a hip injury at training during the week and has been replaced in the selected side by James Rose.

It will be Rose's first game of the 2017 season after showing strong form in the NEAFL in recent weeks.

"Kurt was a bit sore in his hip so he is out and James Rose comes into the team for his first opportunity of the year," Dew said.

"We will be looking for some energy from Rosey and Reidy to pinch hit in the ruck.
