Ruckman Shane Mumford has been ruled out of Sunday’s game against Richmond.

Mumford has been suffering knee soreness and has missed the past two matches.

He ran this week, on Monday and again on Wednesday, but the club medical staff believe he needs at least another week to overcome his knee problem.

Mumford said he was disappointed but was doing all he could to get back on the field.

“We just want to make sure it’s absolutely right before I play. I don’t want to have any setbacks once I get back playing,’’ Mumford said.

Mumford is urging all Swans supporters to get along to the SCG on Sunday and help support the boys against Richmond, as he’ll be doing.

In his absence, Mark Seaby and Lewis Roberts-Thomson have taken on the ruck duties.

In other injury news, 2010 Club Champion Kieren Jack has run twice this week and is a contender to play against Richmond.

Jack sustained an ankle injury against Carlton in round 6 and hasn’t played since then.

Coach John Longmire said Jack would have to get through training and then pull up well on Saturday to secure his place for Sunday’s match against the Tigers at the SCG.

The 25-man squad to take on Richmond will be announced on sydneyswans.com.au at 5pm this afternoon.
