Sydney Swans players Jeremy Laidler and Aliir Aliir have brightened an otherwise gloomy Sydney Tuesday for children at the South Coogee Primary School, paying a visit as part of the 2017 Australia Post AFL Community Camps.
Heavy rain restricted activities to undercover areas, but that didn’t deter the Grade 1 students.
About 20 kids took part in a range of games involving basic AFL skills, with smiles all around as they learned how to handball.
Laidler said the team takes a lot of pride from taking Aussie Rules to the schoolyard.
“Most of these kids haven’t seen much AFL, and the kids here today are just six years old, so it’s very fresh for their eyes,” Laidler said.
“It’s great to be able to get out here as part of the Australia Post AFL Community Camps and great for the kids – hopefully we can get a few of them to take up footy and start developing AFL stars of the future.”
