The Sydney Swans’ second- to fifth-year players returned for the opening day of pre-season training at Moore Park’s Lakeside Oval on Monday.
The session began with a two-kilometre trial, which Jordan Dawson won, before quick repetitions over short distances and skill work followed.
Among the group were Will Hayward, Oliver Florent, Nick Blakey and a host of other exciting young Swans.
Physical Performance Manager Rob Spurrs said the players blitzed the first day.
“I was extremely impressed with their efforts today,” Spurrs told SwansTV.
“Of the guys who ran today 15 have run a previous two-kilometre time trial, and of those 15 boys, 13 either equalled or bettered their personal best. There were 12 personal bests, one who equalled his best and only two guys who didn’t run a personal best.
“I’m really impressed with the way they presented themselves so it was a really pleasing return to pre-season training.”
Star forward Lance Franklin also laced up the boots for a session at Lakeside Oval, returning from minor off-season surgery to complete some light running.
The remainder of Sydney’s squad will commence pre-season training on November 18.
