Canberra Swans fans will have the opportunity to get up close and personal with three of the Sydney Swans’ greats.

With 900 AFL games and one long awaited premiership between them, 2005 premiership coach Paul Roos will be joined by premiership players Brett Kirk and Michael O’Loughlin for one very special Canberra event.

The Canberra Legends Lunch is a chance to hear from and celebrate the Swans with three of the club’s most-loved sons.

Former Swans co-captain Brett Kirk said he is looking forward to meeting some of the Swans’ most loyal supporters in the ACT.

“It’s really exciting to go to these types of events,” Kirk said.

“Firstly, because you get to hang out with mates you don’t get to see anymore, but also to thank the people that support the club through thick and thin and just give a lot of themselves to the club.

“It’s nice to go somewhere where we don’t often get down to, to thank people.”
Kirk said Canberra is known for its strong Swans supporter base, despite the few games that are played in the city.

“There are only a few games down there in Canberra, but there was always a big following of red and white,” he said,

“It’s great that the Canberra fans still come out and watch the footy.”

But Kirk said he hopes the Swans fans in the nation’s capital aren’t disappointed their favourite son isn’t on the guest list.

“There has been a great player that has come from Canberra in Craig Bolton, who is a legend down there and I’m sure they’ll make a statue of him one day,” he joked.
