Sydney Swans coach John Longmire expects Sam Reid and Ben McGlynn to be match-ready in time for the club’s final game of the NAB Challenge.

Speaking from this morning’s open training session at Drummoyne Oval, Longmire provided an update on Reid and McGlynn who were both subbed out of the Swans’ pre-season opener against Brisbane in Coffs Harbour last week.

Reid rolled his ankle in a marking contest during the first quarter and took no further part in the match, while McGlynn lasted only the first half before sitting out with muscle tightness.

Barring any “hiccup” the pair are expected to have at least one hit out before round of the season proper, whether that be in the form of the Swans’ final NAB Challenge match against GWS in Canberra or through the NEAFL will be determined in the coming days.

“We’re hoping McGlynn and Reid will be available next week,” Longmire said of the Swans and Giants’ March 22 encounter.

“Certainly Reid, he was touch and go this week but just not quite up to it. McGlynn is a strong chance as well.”

Ted Richards and Jarrad McVeigh, who did not play against Brisbane, alongside Lance Franklin, Ted Richards and Adam Goodes completed training today and are expected to make the final squad.

All four will be managed having dealt with respective injury issues over the pre-season with Longmire keen to get as “much (game) time into them as we can”.

Tom Derickx and Jake Lloyd were also named in the extended squad. The final 26 - including six interchange and two substitutes - will be named on Sunday.

Kurt Tippett remains on track for the Swans' round one clash with Essendon.
