The Northern Territory are embarking on one of the toughest jobs in the football industry - selecting an inaugural Team of the Century.
An initial pool of some 55,000 players have been narrowed down with the Northern Territory Football League (NTFL), in conjunction with the NT Government, announcing a top 100 earlier this week.
The selection criteria was simple - players had to have played in at least one game in the NT.
Most played their entire careers in the NT, while some went on to feature in the VFL/AFL. Some are household names, most aren't unless you live west of the Victorian/NSW/Queensland divide then most are considered football royalty.
There's one name that sticks out.
Brian Stanislaus.
Stanislaus played just one game for the Sydney Swans. Selected with Pick 54 in the 1990 National Draft, the then 19-year-old debuted for the red and white in Round 3 against Adelaide the following season.
He didn't set the world on fire (three disposals) but, then again, very few can say they've had the opportunity to pull on an AFL jumper.
Stanislaus did eventually make a name for himself in the NT.
After spending some time on Brisbane Bears' list in 1992 (but unable to breakthrough for another game), the Tiwi Islander returned to the NTFL and strung together 256 appearances for St Marys.
He won eight premierships, won the Saints' best and fairest award twice, captained for two seasons and booted 772 goals to lead their goal-kicking seven times throughout his career.
'Broady', as he was known to his club men, also represented the NTFL 14 times.
Stanislaus' feats and the accolades of the other 99 players on the list will be looked at a little more closely in the coming months with the Team of the Century to be officially announced at a gala dinner in Darwin on September 2.
