The Sydney Swans have completed one of the ten deals done this trade period with Thursday’s 2pm deadline fast approaching.
The Swans improved their draft position gaining selection 14 and 52 in the upcoming draft in exchange for Tom Mitchell and pick 57.
Head of Football Tom Harley said it was important for the Swans to look towards the draft to improve their list in 2017.
“We are clearly regenerating the list with seven debutants this year and we are committed to adding a couple more a graders come the November draft,” he said.
“We are not in the market to bring in players at the moment so we are going back to the draft as we look to improve our list.”
“We are keen to explore any of those options and we are keen to talk about improving our draft position.”
Dean Towers and Toby Nankervis are two Swans yet to sign a new deal with the Club as they weigh up contract offers.
Harley said last Thursday the pair were required players with no intention of a trade for either.
Speculation surrounding the future of Kurt Tippett in the red and white has already been quashed with Harley assuring Swans fans he would be at the Club in 2017.
The Swans currently hold selections 14, 17, 39, 52, 93 and 111 ahead of the 2016 AFL Draft, which will be held in Sydney in November.
