Recruiting and List Manager Kinnear Beatson has revealed the Club’s recruiting strategy heading into the National Draft.
The Swans will enter the draft with a pick inside the top ten for the first time since 2009 after strengthening their hand during the recent trade period.
Pick 9 will be the first of four live picks for the Club followed by pick 19, 46 and 49.
Beatson said the philosophy was a simple one heading into next Friday’s National Draft.
“Pick 9 will be about picking the best player available,”
“We would like to improve our midfield stocks but there are talls that may be running around at that stage and if they are there they will be given consideration.
“At pick 19 we will be trying to balance up with who we got at pick 9 but keeping an open mind.”
Beatson said the talent pool was a strong one this season with depth among the midfield and half forward stocks.
“It is a little light on for key position and ruckman so I think clubs will service those needs through the rookie draft,” he said.
“Midfield stocks and running half forwards, it is a good draft for those types of players, it is a good year for that.”
