Ryan O’Keefe will be available for selection for this Sunday’s clash with Richmond at the SCG after recovering from a head knock suffered in last weekend’s win over West Coast.

Sydney Swans physiotherapist Matt Cameron said O’Keefe, who was subbed out of last Sunday afternoon’s match early in the final term, had pulled up well from the collision and would train in full this week.

“He got a knock on the head which meant we had to sub him late in the game,” Cameron told SwansTV.

“He’s pulled up well and is feeling back to normal.”

After 15 weeks out with an abdominal injury, defender Rhyce Shaw returned to the field on Saturday in the reserves win over the Gold Coast Suns reserves at Metricon Stadium.

Cameron said the 31-year-old, who played 80 minutes of game time, moved freely on field and would resume regular training this week.

“His injury is good,” he said.

“It was his first game back and I think he was quite sore everywhere all over his body from the first game, which is what you normally expect at the beginning of the season.

“He’ll have a couple of days recovery and then start training again later in the week.”

Cameron added that Gary Rohan, who played his second game for the Swans reserves on Saturday, also pulled up well from the match.

“He also played about three-quarters of game time,” he said.

“Gary has been out for a bit longer so he similarly had some muscle soreness throughout, particularly in his legs, but both their injuries are going well.”

In other injury news, Cameron confirmed that Sam Reid had begun his running program after suffering a quad tear two weeks ago in the Swans’ round 15 win over Melbourne, while Adam Goodes, Lewis Jetta and Lewis Roberts-Thomson were still limited to lower-impact cardio training.
