The Sydney Swans will further explore the possibility of building a new training and administration base within the SCG precinct.
At Thursday night’s AGM Swans Chairman Andrew Pridham revealed the Club is continuing to search for the best option to build a new $30-million state-of-the art facility.
“We are currently exploring the feasibility of a number of sites and development configurations,” Pridham said
“It is our intention that our new training and administration facilities be located in or around the SCG precinct.
“We are determined that any new facilities be of a very high standard and be capable of remaining leading edge for many years.”
While a new facility would be a significant investment, Pridham said he was confident the Swans would be able to raise the funds required.
“To meet these anticipated costs we are working with numerous stakeholders, including the Sydney Swans Foundation, the AFL and multiple levels of Government,” he said.
“I am confident that with our collective efforts we can deliver state-of-the-art facilities that will be of great assistance to our coaches and playing group.
“This facility will make the people of Sydney and our many supporters even prouder of the Swans high standing in the Australian sporting landscape.”
Meanwhile, Pridham thanked the Sydney Swans Foundation for its ongoing support, as the Foundation enters into a 10th year of operation.
“I would like to thank the Board of the Sydney Swans Foundation, and in particular its chairman Peter Ivany, for their amazing work,” he said.
“Having raised over $10 million, the funds have been invested into both elite and community related programmes, not least the QBE Sydney Swans Academy.
“The Swans Foundation will play a major role in funding our new training and administration facilities.”
