Subiaco Oval provided the perfect stage on Sunday for four individual efforts to break a long-standing record.
In fact, not break ... set.
For the first time since Champion Data started compiling statistics, four players in Sunday's Fremantle v Sunday Round 19 clash in Perth tallied 40+ disposals.
Together, Josh Kennedy (45), David Mundy (44), Dan Hannebery (41) and Lachie Neale (41) all eclipsed the magical mark to re-write the history books.
Previously only two players in the same game have collected 40 possessions apiece - and that's happened nine times since 1999.
The last and possibly only time (according to our own research) involving the red and white occurred in 2009 when Brett Kirk (41) and Ryan O'Keefe (41) ran rampant against Collingwood in Round 12 at ANZ Stadium.
Amazingly, their efforts couldn't prevent the Magpies from winning that game.
Hannebery and Jarrad McVeigh were on track last season to take that number to 10 when the duo gathered the footy at will against the Gold Coast in Round 10.
Hannebery finished with 42 possessions but, unfortunately, McVeigh would ultimately fall short by one (39).
Of those on the current Sydney Swans' list, five players have collected 40+ possessions in a game (Haneberry, Kennedy, McVeigh, Tom Mitchell and Luke Parker) with Hannebery reaching the feat a team-high eight times in his career while Kennedy's count stands at five.
