Harry Cunningham believes the Swans best chance of beating the Hawks on Friday night lies in an even contribution from all 22 players who take to the field.

Following a disappointing performance against Richmond last week, coach John Longmire backed his players to bounce back against the reigning premier.

Cunningham said it was important the Swans didn’t rely on one or two players to get the job done.

“They have quality players all over the ground so it is going to take 22 players to turn up and play our brand of footy to get the win,” Cunningham told Big Sports Breakfast on Wednesday morning.

“Hawthorn have been playing some good footy and we are looking forward to the big challenge.

“They are the reigning premiers of the last few years, and are a very good side, so we are going to have to bring our A-game if we want to get the four points.”

The Hawks have a strong recent record against the Swans having won seven of the last 10 meetings between the two sides.

Cunningham said the match would be determined by who could lock the ball in their forward half by winning the contested football.

“They have very good kicking skills so we are going to have to win the contested footy, which is what AFL is about these days,” he said.

“At the end of the day it does come down to attitude and effort when it comes to trying to win that contested footy.

“We are going to have to bring that against a strong and physical Hawthorn team this week.”

It will be the Swans second trip to Melbourne in a fortnight as one of just two matches at the MCG during the 2016 season.
