Harry Cunningham and Brandon Jack are used to playing footy on the big stage, but the duo could not have been more in awe while roving the ‘ice’ carpet at the Australian premiere of Eddie the Eagle.
SwansTV hosts for the night, Harry and Brandon were lucky enough to catch up with one of the stars of the film, the one and only Hugh Jackman, before attending the exclusive screening at Bondi Junction’s Event Cinema.
Hugh and boys first got talking about the film – a true story of a chap (with probably a bit too much ambition and dare) named Eddie Edwards, who in 1988 became the first competitor to represent Great Britain in Olympic ski jumping.
Then, it was onto footy and whether the 47-year-old actor would make a good AFL coach.
“I’m not much of a yeller,” Jackman laughed.
Brandon then asked what advice he’d give to aspiring “triple threats” (actor, singer and dancer) who wanted to follow in his footsteps.
“It’s about being curious, not being afraid to learn and make a fool out of yourself,” came the reply.
A Swans supporter, Jackman was thrilled when the players presented him with a signed 2016 jumper – which he later acknowledged in front of guests ahead of the special screening.
“I have been given many things during my time as an actor, but it doesn’t come much better than a signed Swans jumper,” Jackman said while singling out the players in the crowd.
Upon leaving the cinema Harry Cunningham was overheard exclaiming: “How good was Hugh!”
