First-year rookie Sam Murray believes an even spread of contributors will be crucial to the NEAFL Swans' fortunes in this year's finals series.

That spread was on full display on Saturday, particularly on the scoreboard, when the Swans cruised to a 135-point win against Brisbane at Blacktown International Sportspark.

The ladder leaders, who sit two games clear of second-placed Aspley, boasted 14 individual goal-kickers by game's end with Murray and QBE Sydney Swans Academy top-up Ned Reinhard topping the list with four goals apiece.

Reinhard has been a huge presence up forward this season, having kicked 22 goals in his 14 games to date, to be the best placed Swan on the NEAFL goal-kicking leaderboard.

Murray meanwhile had managed just eight goals, but has been used across many different positions since arriving in Sydney via Pick 66 in last year's Rookie Draft.

Coach Rhyce Shaw certainly discovered the 19-year-old's knack around goal over the weekend with Murray also collecting 14 disposals and raking in six marks.

Murray's efforts highlighted a luxury within the NEAFL Swans' line-up.

"We're not replying on one or two blokes to carry the load," Murray told SwansTV.

"We've been working well as a team and we haven’t become complacent or selfish, especially around goal.

"We always look for the best option and that was proven over the weekend in our number of goal-kickers."

It has been a season of development for Murray who says he's enjoyed "every minute" learning under the guidance of Shaw and the rest of the coaching group.

His performance on Saturday was arguably his best for the Club.

He hopes he's hit form at the right time of the season and believes his development will continue ahead of a bigger and better 2017.

“It’s a lifestyle most would love to live and I get to do it,” Murray added.

“Hopefully I can keep improving, play good footy and see where that leads me.”

The NEAFL Swans began strongly, kicking 6.2 to Brisbane's 1.0 in the opening term.

That story continued with the home side restricting the Lions to just two goals for the rest of the match on top of slamming on another 13 to storm home to a 24.16 (160) to 3.7 (25).

Ted Richards, James Rose, Nic Newman and academy member Ben Davis also finished with multiples (two goals apiece).

Ben McGlynn did his chances for a senior recall no harm after collecting 32 disposals, 12 marks, 10 inside 50s, seven clearance and kicking a goal.

Nic Newman (39 possessions) and Colin O’Riordan (28) continues their impressive seasons.

Jeremy Laidler made a successful comeback from injury, gathering 20 disposals in his first game for four weeks.

The NEAFL Swans will now turn their attention towards the weekend’s trip to Darwin, where an always challenging clash against NT Thunder at TIO Stadium awaits.
