Including the first match of the season, the Swans reserves have been scheduled to play the three other AFL-listed reserves sides (Brisbane Lions, Gold Coast Suns and UWS Giants) ten times over the course of the 2014 season.
Six of the reserves 2014 home fixtures are scheduled as curtain-raisers for senior Swans matches, while the Swans reserves and Suns reserves will clash at Metricon Stadium ahead of the two clubs’ round 12 senior clash on June 8.
The Swans reserves will become the first side to test out the newly-completed SCG when they host Queanbeyan ahead of the senior sides match against North Melbourne on Sunday April 13.
An ANZAC Day match against the Lions reserves to be played at Mackay’s Harrup Park, a match against Ainslie at Wollongong’s North Dalton Park, and the first Sydney visit of the NT Thunder to face the Swans reserves are other highlights of the 2014 fixture.
Two NEAFL representative games, against the WAFL and TSL, have been scheduled for the weekends of May 24/25 and June 21/22 respectively.
The three-week NEAFL finals series will begin on the last weekend of August and conclude with the Grand Final on the weekend of September 12/13.
The previous 19-team, two-conference system comprising the Northern (QLD/NT teams) and Eastern (NSW/ACT teams) conferences has been abolished with all 14 remaining teams operating under a singular competition.
