Long-time supporter and Sydney Swans Ambassador, Adam Spencer surprised guests at the 2012 Sydney Swans Grand Final Dinner with a poem he penned in the hours following the Swans triumph.

Adam has kindly shared his words with sydneyswans.com.au and you can watch him deliver the poem to the playing group at the Grand Final Dinner in the video player above.

Warning: this poem was written in the adrenaline-fuelled aftermath of a Grand Final victory.

Well what an epic contest, an amazing thing to see,
The Sydney Swans have won the flag, upon the MCG.

They just could not be bettered, they fought the greater fight,
And that is why it's time for us to 'run amok' tonight.

But as the crowd did roar 'cheer cheer', our voices raised the roof,
This afternoon's great victory, it evidenced a truth.

Today we raised the banner, shook thunder from the sky,
Today our boys proved once again, they simply never die.

You realise when you try to stop a Hannebery or Jetta,
That when you've given all you've got our boys just bounce back better.

You can attack our boys with samurai swords - and sever off their head,
And bury them in concrete, but our Swans are never dead.

You could take a funnel web spider, and hide it in the beard,
Of Nick Malceski or Rhyce Shaw, there's nothing to be feared.

You could jump on top of Adam Goodes, and tickle him to death,
But suddenly his smiling corpse, would draw another breath.

You could wire up Jude's testicles, give him half a million volts,
And barely get a grimace, from the mighty warrior Bolts.

And that is why on this great day, we held the trophy high,
These mighty bloods, our Sydney Swans, they simply never die.
