By simply nominating one mate to sign up as a Swans member for the 2014 season, Martin won a Volkswagen Golf 90TSI Comfortline 7 Speed DSG 1.4 litre TSI with BlueMotion Technology, valued at $29,490.
Martin, who arrived at SwansHQ last week to accept his prize from Swans forward Kurt Tippett, said he was over the moon to have won the Nominate Your Mate competition.
“I just nominated one mate, so I must be the luckiest person in the competition,” he said.
“It’s absolutely awesome.”
Martin, who is originally from the UK and didn’t own a car before winning the competition, said his new Volkswagen would open up countless opportunities for him to explore Australia.
“I used to have a Volkswagen back in the UK and I haven’t had a car since I moved to Australia, so this is going to give me a huge amount of opportunities to explore bits of Australia I haven’t seen yet,” he said.
“I reckon on my first trip I’m going to go up the coast and try and find some heat and find some warmth!”
While Martin was lucky enough to take out the major prize in this year’s competition, Swans member Dean Aitkin was this year’s top recruiter, having signed up 27 members for the season.
For his efforts, Aitkin was rewarded with a double pass to the 2014 Club Champion Dinner and will enjoy the ultimate match day experience, including premium seating for eight people at a Swans home game this season.
