Star midfielder Luke Parker has thanked fans for their support following a sickening incident in which he broke his ankle against Collingwood on Friday night.
Parker had surgery on his ankle on Sunday and was released from hospital on Monday afternoon to begin his rehabilitation in the hope he may return to the field in 2015.
The 22-year-old took to social media on Monday night to show his appreciation for the messages of support received over the weekend.
“Big thank you for all the kind messages of support. Out of hospital and on the mend. The dream is still alive in 2015,” Parker tweeted.
Parker also praised Collingwood opponent Taylor Adams for the compassion he showed on the field following the incident.
Adams sent a tweet in support of Parker following the game with the Swans midfielder responding on Monday.
“Thank you Taylor Adams for real sportsmanship on Friday night,” he said.
