Lance Franklin admits it has been frustrating watching on from the sidelines over the last few weeks as he has battled an ongoing back injury.
Franklin returned to full training on Tuesday afternoon completing a whole session without restriction alongside his teammates.
“It’s good to get out there and blow the cobwebs out and hopefully have a good session again on Friday and into St Kilda on Sunday,” Franklin said.
“It’s been frustrating not being able to get out there with the injuries I’ve had.
“I’m looking forward to the next two weeks. Hopefully I’ll get the next two games into me before the finals.”
The Coleman Medalist said he was continually frustrated by not being able to take to the field in recent weeks playing just one of the last five matches.
“Injuries are part of the game and now it’s time to move forward and hopefully I’ll be able to get a game under my belt,” he said.
“I hope so, I’ll see how I pull up tomorrow and the following couple of days leading into Friday’s session and fingers crossed I’ll be able to play.”
Also looking to join Franklin back on the field are Ben McGlynn and Gary Rohan who have battled their own injury concerns in recent weeks.
“We’ve got the next two games to hopefully get that chemistry going forward,” he said.
“There’s no doubt it’s going to work. We haven’t had the opportunity to play together, Gary and me, or Benny and me. We need to get that mixture right leading into the finals.”
“Like anyone I’d rather be out there playing than on the sidelines watching the boys play but it was good seeing them win and that’s the most important thing.”
