Sydney Swans General Manager of Football Tom Harley today confirmed Kieren Jack sustained damage to the medial ligament of his left knee during the first quarter of Saturday night’s match against the Gold Coast Suns at the SCG.

There is no damage to his posterior and anterior cruciate ligaments.

Harley said the expected timeframe on his return is three weeks.

“It is a really disappointing setback for Kieren and as our co-captain, he is clearly an important player for us.

“He is the ultimate professional and will work closely with our medical staff to do everything he can to get himself right.”

At this stage, it is expected co-captain Jarrad McVeigh (calf) and defender Nick Smith (hamstring) will be available for selection for Saturday’s final against Fremantle.
