The Sydney Swans will look to build Lance Franklin’s game time next Sunday against Greater Western Sydney after he played around 60 minutes against Fremantle on Sunday.

Franklin booted just one goal in his first competitive match of the 2015 pre-season campaign before being subbed out after half time.

Assistant coach Henry Playfair said he would certainly rack up more minutes next week in Canberra.

"We came in with a plan and once he ticked off those minutes we were pretty happy to take him off the ground," Playfair said.

"We'll build from that next week.

"I thought [Franklin and Goodes] were OK. I thought they competed pretty well, Buddy laid a couple of really important tackles for us and 'Goodesy' seemed to be covering the ground pretty well.

"It was good for them to get some game time and they'll be important next week to get them some more game time for round one."

Craig Bird was subbed off with a corked quad while Jarrad McVeigh didn't play because of a tight calf but both are expected to face the Giants.
