Kieren Jack and Luke Parker are among the Swans’ walking wounded who’ll be fit and firing when the playing group returns for preseason training, according to General Manager of Football Tom Harley.
Both Jack and Parker faced a race against time to feature in the Swans’ 2015 finals campaign, with Jack (knee) coming close to a semi-final return while Parker would have been a strong chance to play if the Swans progressed to Saturday’s preliminary final.
Harley said with more than two months before preseason training, both will be fully healed in time for when the fourth-year and over players return for duty on December 3.
“Given we have the whole list back early December it looks like we’ll be in a strong position at this stage,” Harley said for SwansTV.
“Kieren would have been right to play in a preliminary final so he’ll be fine from that point of view.
“Parker has now got more time on his side to get his broken leg right and get the muscles around it strong so he’ll be no issues in starting preseason.”
Qualifying final casualty Sam Reid will be looking to put his feet up and use that time wisely as the key forward recovers from a “significant hamstring injury” suffered against Fremantle.
Reid suffered the hamstring tear during the second quarter of the clash at Domain Stadium and was subsequently ruled out of the Swans’ semi-final with North Melbourne.
Gary Rohan was another who went down during the finals, copping a fractured cheekbone during a sickening head clash with Kangaroos forward Drew Petrie in Saturday night’s loss.
Rohan had surgery during the week and the Club will wait for the swelling to subside before operating again.
“It was a pretty nasty break in the upper cheek point through the eye socket,” Harley confirmed.
“There were no further complications around that and he’s been managing the swelling since that game.
“With not having the pressures off in-season we can take a bit more time but there are no issues with Gary starting preseason also.”
First to third-year players are due back on November 23.
