Sydney Swans players and coaches toured some of the best facilities in the world as part of day two of the Club’s trip to Doha.

Senior coach John Longmire, incoming CEO Tom Harley and key members of the club’s high performance department took a tour of the Aspire Academy.

The Aspire Academy was founded in 2004 with the goal to find and develop the best young male Qatari athletes, whilst providing them with high quality learning environment.

The tour included looking through the facilities of the world’s leading sports medicine hospital, Aspetar as well as experience the facilities at the state of the art Academy.

“This place is absilutely world class when it comes to high performance and we are coming in with open minds in terms of ways to improve," Harley said.

"Already we have picked up a number of things on this trip from training techniques, gym equipment and podiatry and we are looking forward to learning a bit more throughout the trip."

Longmire said it was a great opportunity to get abroad and learn from the best in the world.

“It has been at the forefront of sports medicine for a long time this facility so to be able to have a look around is a great opportunity for us," Longmire said.

"On the back of the announcement of our new facility it is really important to have a look at these facilities and see how it all works.

"This time of the year is great to be able to get out of the country and meet some other people to get some other ideas and be really open minded about how other organisations work."

The Swans will spend day three of their trip engaging with local Auskick footballers, visiting MIA Park and heading on a desert safari.
