Heath finds new home at Port
Sydney Swans rookie Campbell Heath has been traded to Port Adelaide for pick 72 in the Draft
Sydney Swans rookie Campbell Heath and selection 85 in the National Draft have been traded to Port Adelaide in exchange for selection 72.
Heath played two matches for the Swans in 2010, after joining the Club as a fourth round selection (pick 61 overall) in the 2009 National Draft. He was delisted at the end of 2011, but re-drafted as a rookie for the 2012 season.
Sydney Swans General Manager - Football, Dean Moore said he wished Campbell all the best at his new Club.
“One of our objectives during this trade period was to enhance our position in the draft order and we’re pleased to see Campbell given an opportunity at a new Club,” he said.
“Despite some battles with injury, Campbell has shown great character and worked very hard in his time at the Club."
Heath said he was excited at the prospect of playing senior AFL football with Port Adelaide.
“I’m really blessed to get this opportunity,” Heath said.
“All I wanted to do was find somewhere where I could hopefully play some regular senior football and Port Adelaide came to me and offered me a really good opportunity to kick-start my AFL career.
“I just want to thank the Port Adelaide Football Club for giving me this chance because I’m really excited about what’s going to happen there in the future.
“I’m very grateful to the Swans, too. They have been a great club to be a part of and have really looked after me in helping me with my injuries, so I’m thankful in that respect, also.”
