Zak Jones lived every young footballer’s dream when he slotted his first AFL goal in the Sydney Swans’ 46-point win over GWS on Saturday night.

The 19-year-old, who made his AFL debut against Richmond in round 14, made the most of his opportunity when he found the footy in his hands inside 50 midway through the third quarter and made no mistake converting from 30 metres out.

Jones, who finished his first full game with 13 disposals, spoke to SwansTV after the match about the feeling of kicking his first goal.

“I just tried to impact that contest,” he said.

“I didn’t think I was going to come away with it, I thought I was going to lay a tackle.

“When I saw it going through the goals I just got up and about and that gave me another level of energy.”
