Sydney Swans fans can begin counting down the days to the return to action of the club’s emerging stars after the release of the 2020 NEAFL fixture. 

The club’s promising AFL-listed and QBE Sydney Swans Academy youngsters will be back in action for a season-opening clash with the Gold Coast Suns at Metricon Stadium on April 5, before wheeling out for their first match in Sydney against Sydney University on April 11.

The Swans will face GWS in the first of four Sydney Derby fixtures at Blacktown International Sportspark in Round 3, while they’ll meet reigning premier the Brisbane Lions for the first time at Queensland’s Moreton Bay Sports Complex in Round 4.

Sydney finished fourth on the 2019 NEAFL ladder before bowing out of the premiership race in a preliminary-final defeat to Brisbane.

The loss to the Lions followed an unforgettable elimination-final victory over Sydney University, which saw the Swans recover from a 27-point deficit early in the final term to stun the Students in a nine-point win.

Development coaches Jeremy Laidler and Lloyd Perris will again oversee the NEAFL side in season 2020.
