An ‘LRT’ chant reverberated around the stadium as the dual premiership player completed his lap, with adoring fans donning blonde wigs and LRT t-shirts in the 30-year-old’s honour.
A guard of honour was formed by the club’s reserves players outside the Paul Kelly Race, and Roberts-Thomson was chaired from the field as he waved to his fans.
Upon completing his lap, an emotional Roberts-Thomson told SwansTV he was grateful to be able to thank the fans one last time at the SCG.
“It was exceptional,” Roberts-Thomson said.
“I cannot believe the amount of support that was here.
“Doing that lap, it was pretty emotional I must say, but I think for me, it was just so good to get around and see all the supporters.”
The 179-gamer described Swans fans as the best in the league and said he was blown away by just how much support he had received since announcing his retirement last Thursday.
“There are no better supporters than what we’ve got here at the Swans, so we’re very lucky,” he said.
“It was so surreal, especially on the back of the boys doing so well in the first half.
“To see fans out there dressed in blonde wigs and to see a number of signs out there, it was just amazing that support.”
