To everyone in our Sydney Swans family,

Last week was a hard week – possibly one of the most challenging in the history of our competition.

The impacts of coronavirus mean we’ve had to make some very difficult decisions, including asking our staff to either stand down or work reduced hours on reduced pay.

It’s a decision we made with a heavy heart. Our team is very much a family who are committed to the club and to each other. We’ll be working as hard as we can over the next few months to get the club through this unprecedented challenge so that our people can return as soon as possible.

We know our football club isn’t alone. This is the situation for countless people, families and organisations right across the country.

We also know that football, and sport more broadly, is often the place that people turn when times are tough. It’s an escape, a comfort and a place to share joy with family and friends. Although our games – like so many sports – are on hold for now, we want you to know that we’re still here.

And whilst we know so many of you are dealing with your own personal and professional challenges right now, we are committed to keeping you connected and will provide regular updates as we navigate whatever the coming weeks and months may hold.

The Sydney Swans digital team is working hard to find new ways to deliver insights and news from our players, while the Swanshop remains open for business.

Our membership team is also on hand to provide support throughout the AFL stoppage. As we make our staffing and working from home adjustments our phone lines will be closed on Monday and Tuesday this week, then will reopen at 10am on Wednesday April 1. Our team will still be available via email at swansmembership@sydneyswans.com.au and you can visit our FAQ page as it may have the answer to your question.

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work through your questions.

Finally, I would like to echo the calls from the government and health authorities for people to look after each other through this. Keep up the hand hygiene, practice social distancing and if you’re unwell, stay home. We’re all in this together and we will get through it together.

Once again thank you for your support through this incredibly difficult period – your passion, kind words and commitment to stick with us have been lifting all of us up.

It’s going to be a special day when we get through this and can share in the game we all love once again.

Look after yourselves and each other.
