Swans Fantasy: Round 14
Swans Fantasy team captains debate who to buy, keep and trade ahead of the Swans' round 14 clash
What did you take out of our round 13 match, Fantasy wise?
Lotts: What a game! Certainly up there with one of our best performances this year. Like last week, we didn’t have too many players crack the ton – three in fact – but it was well worth it to get the win in front of a massive SCG crowd
Sub-elite Legends: Well its hard to look past the Buddy show, 23 touches, five goals and 122 Fantasy points make me think he is edging towards his season-best form. I have also been impressed with the ongoing form of Nick Malceski (DEF $478,598) and Rhyce Shaw (DEF $421,753) off half-back. Mal is currently only owned by 4% of coaches so could be a handy point of difference come finals.
Who’s your Swans player of the week?
Lotts: How can you look past Buddy Franklin (FWD $454,560)? His five second-half goals were great but his 122 Fantasy points were equally as good!
Sub-elite Legends: Buddy was unbelievable, but it was milestone man, Kieren Jack (MID $544,161) for me. He consistently worked for four quarters, laid seven tackles and kicked a handy goal for a very respectable 117 points.
Which Swans player would you choose as your captain for the next game?
Lotts: Two weeks in a row I’ve got this wrong so it may be best to look to Sub-elite Legends for advice this week until I find my groove again. In my defence, Hanners (MID $520,829) did cop a very good tag from a very good player and then unfortunately got injured. So not a good day at all. I had a really good run at picking the captain each week – mainly due to selecting Joey Kennedy (MID $583,872) each week. So I’m going back to Mr. Reliable and selecting Joey as the best bet for the captaincy band on his 26th birthday.
Sub-elite Legends: I’m going to bend my own rules this week and switch Joshy Kennedy for hard-running Kieren Jack (MID $544,161). Kizza notched up 128 against Richmond last time and should find plenty of good space on the MCG.
Next up is Richmond at the MCG, who are the players to look out for from the Tigers?
Lotts: On his day, Richmond’s Jack Riewoldt (FWD $442,717) is as good as they get. His season-high 156 Fantasy points against GWS is testament to that. He loves kicking bags of goals and that always equates to big Fantasy numbers. Otherwise, Trent Cotchin (MID $496,798) has been a proven Fantasy scorer for a long time and is averaging 100 Fantasy points a game.
Sub-elite Legends: Dustin Martin has been one of the Tiger’s best in recent weeks with an average of 113 points over the last five rounds. He is the third highest scoring forward in the competition and was nearly best on ground with 112 points last time against the Swans.
Any changes this week for your team?
Lotts: I made some last minute changes last week and I couldn’t be happier. I swapped Tom Langdon (DEF $393,733) for Brisbane’s Pearce Hanley (DEF $475,474) who rewarded the move with 113 points. I also swapped Ben Lennon (FWD $234,638) for Hanley’s teammate Stefan Martin (FWD/RUC $258,121) who also responded with an even ton. So my team is looking pretty well settled at the moment. I might try and free up some more cash to splurge come finals time so I may look to trade out Jeremy Laidler (DEF $230,908) and Will Langford (DEF, MID $318,048) who have proven to be more than handy this year.
Sub-elite Legends: I am looking at bringing in Stefan Martin (FWD/RUC $258,121) as well. I also like the look of Anthony Miles (MID $307,055) as a possible swap for Will Langford (DEF, MID $318,048) but with the lure of Jack Martin back in form in upcoming weeks I’m contemplating holding fire on my next midfield downgrade.
