Tim Schmidt and Heath Grundy have been brought into the Sydney Swans team to play Richmond on Saturday at the MCG, while Adam Schneider replaces the injured Nick Davis (foot).

Schneider played with the reserves last weekend after suffering a hamstring injury in the first practice game at North Sydney Oval.

Schmidt and Grundy come in at the expense of Luke Vogels and Simon Phillips.

"Grundy and Schmidt both had very, very good pre-seasons and though Heath had a setback with a back complaint they went very well last weekend in the twos," coach Paul Roos said prior to training at the SCG on Thursday.

"They put their name up for selection and deserve their chance."

The Swans will be keen to bounce back quickly after their one point loss to West Coast last Saturday night and Roos hopes they will improve their decision making.

"Last week the players used ball well out of the centre but made bad choices into 50 too often," he said.

"They went to Hally when they didn't need to as there were other options open and Hally had 2-3 guys on him at times.

"This week they will endeavour not to go to Hally as often as we expect Richmond will have 2-3 on him."

Meanwhile, there are no changes to the Tigers team which narrowly lost to Carlton in round one.
