The Swans aim to play the game on their own terms, preventing Essendon’s fast-pace style, says Jake Lloyd.

This week saw the Swans return to the SCG for a full session of match-simulation as they prepare to defend home turf against the Bombers in Round 2.

Defender Jake Lloyd is confident the Swans’ young and talented list can match the Bombers run and carry play style, aiming to limit their opportunities and control the tempo of the game.

“They’re obviously a small, fast, free-flowing team so we’ll be focusing on defence and not allowing them to run and carry the footy”, he said, following training on Friday.

“Guys like Tipungwuti can be really explosive...so it’s important we limit their opportunities and keep good pressure up the ground to avoid those clean entries.”

Whilst the Swans prepare for Essendon's pace, Lloyd affirmed the focus is playing the game on Sydney’s terms.

“(We’ll) focus on us, the way we move the footy - and make them chase us."

The 137 gamer lauded the Swan’s young list, with no shortage of speed and skill at Longmire’s disposal, ahead of team selection.

“Guys like Dylan Stephens (with) his poise on the outside, and the way he can use the footy; the hit and attack that Chad Warner and Will Gould have - they’ve been very impressive.”

Lloyd shared his excitement for a return to footy, and the prospect of having fans back in the stands - taking a moment to thank Bloods 2020 Members.

“We thank them for their support…we hope they’re watching on TV, and that sooner rather than later they’re back in the stands cheering us on.

“Hopefully we can play some good footy, and make them proud."
